In A First, These Two Female Scientists Are Leading India’s Space Mission


Let’s talk about girl power, specifically in India. For the first time in history, two Indian female scientists are helming a space mission, Chandrayaan-2. Vanitha Muthayya is the project director and Ritu Karidhal the mission director. In an interview with the Times of India, K Sivan, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), also revealed that the mission team comprises of 30% women. Chandrayaan-2 was supposed to launch at 2.51 am today, but the launch was aborted due to a technical snag.
