Joe Root won the toss and chose to bat against India in the first Test at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. This is the first international series that is been played in India amidst the coronavirus pandemic. India made a couple of changes as well with Washington Sundar and Shahbaz Nadeem being three spinners in the side in addition to Ravichandran Ashwin.
