Over 70 lakh ration cardholder-beneficiaries falling under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the State have not yet been covered for e-KYC [electronic know your customer] verification.
This constitutes around 20% of the total of around 3.57 crore beneficiaries who belong to the categories of Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Household (PHH) cards. In total, there are about 1.14 crore AAY and PHH cards in the State.
Additionally, there are around 1.05 crore Non-PHH (NPHH) cards, which are not covered under the NFSA. Yet, the State government has been providing rice free-of-cost to the holder of these cards. As of now, there is no requirement for e-KYC verification for the NPHH cardholders.
A circular issued by the Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection D. Mohan to District Collectors and his departmental officers in the first week of February stated that the Union government had fixed March 31 as the deadline for the completion of the e-KYC exercise….
