A book based on Khammam’s Nagulancha village, where the first revolt against foreign invasion was said to have come to light, was released by Telangana State Planning Board vice-chairman B. Vinod Kumar. The struggle was waged then against Dutch traders.
The book ‘Charitrakekkani Samaram’ (A struggle not recorded in history) authored by Katta Srinivas highlights the village that fought against the Dutch trade settlement in 1687. Mr. Vinod Kumar said the villagers fought against the foreigners and the Dutch were forced to leave on October 13, 1687, much before the recorded Indian freedom struggle of 1857.
