India will celebrate Eid on Monday (May 25) as the moon could not be sighted on Saturday, Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid Ahmed Shah Bukhari said.
Bukhari also urged people to offer Eid Namaaz at their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown.
On Friday, which was the last of the ongoing holy month of Ramzan, also called the Jumat-ul-Vida, a group of people offered namaz at the Jama Masjid ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, while adhering to social distancing following relaxations in the fourth phase of the COVID-19 lockdown.
