South 24 Paraganas: “Where is my home” asked Pulak, peeping outside the window of his neighbour’s building, his current temporary address after super cyclone ‘Amphan’ destroyed their house. The 10-year-old broke into smiles at times seeing the media attention; for him, the loss is just a house and his cricket bat but for his father the future seems to have vanished into thin air. At Thakurchak in South 24 Paraganas, barely any thatched house is left with a roof. Most of them have turned into debris, waiting to be removed from the land it had once belonged to.
