Former All India Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader VK Sasikala, who was a close aide of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister late J Jayalalithaa, tested positive for the coronavirus on Thursday and was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit ward of Bengaluru’s Victoria Hospital, the Hindustan Times reported.
“She has tested positive for Covid-19 but there are no other complications,” said Dr K Ramesh Krishna, Medical Superintendent at the hospital. “Her oxygen saturation is around 98% with around 10 litres of oxygen. There is a lung infection.”
She had initially tested negative for the coronavirus, but doctors did a TrueNat test and also repeated a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction or RT-PCR to confirm if she has contracted the infection, The Hindu reported.
