The sales report for December 2020 suggests a significant decline in sales for BMW India. There are various factors contributing to this decline. First and foremost, the pandemic and lockdown discouraged a lot of sales for the most part of the year. That has been common across the industry. But it did affect the luxury car segment particularly. Secondly, the introduction and implementation of BS6 emission regulations led to the discontinuation of various models altogether. A lot of these models were brought back later with technology to adhere to the emissions standards. Some models were brought back as petrol-only models as well.

It is natural for the industry in general and this segment in particular, to recover from the effects of pandemic and BS6 regulations. People are also still adjusting to the changing world around us. The pandemic is not over yet but the industry is getting back…
