Karnataka High Court Restricts Classic Legend from Using Yezdi Brand

  • Yezdi brand was up for liquidation back in 1996 and the assets of the company were vested with the Official Liquidator.
  • As a result, the Yezdi motorcycles were discontinued back then.
  • But they were re-launched in our market in 2022.

The Karnataka High Court has bad news for all the Yezdi brand fans. Yezdi is a popular and iconic name in the Indian two-wheeler industry for decades now. There was a significant gap in motorcycle production since 1996 due to a liquidation process when the Ideal Jawa India Co. Pvt. Ltd. went defunct. However, that gap was filled in January this year (2022) when Classic Legends Private Limited launched the Yezdi range of motorcycles in the Indian market. But the High Court has restrained anyone from using the Yezdi brand name. In fact, the company has been given 30 days to stop using the Yezdi branding. Here are the details.
