The Alto is an international model and has seen a facelift in Japan. However, Maruti Suzuki has other plans for the popular compact hatchback in India.
The new Maruti Suzuki Alto has been revealed for the Japanese market. However, there is a catch. It falls under the Kei category of cars that is a huge market in Japan. Kei cars, essentially, refer to ultra-small cars which are highway legal. They could measure anything from 3 m to 3.4 m in length. The Japanese version has a 660 cc heart while the Indian version is 800 cc. The smaller engine is paired with a mild-hybrid system for maximum fuel efficiency.
