Go-Ahead, the UK public transport operator, has said it is battling a cyber attack after finding “unauthorised activity” in its systems, including in the network that operates its bus services.
The UK-listed company on Tuesday morning disclosed it was “currently managing a cyber security incident”, but said it did not believe that any customer data had been compromised.
The company first detected faults late on Sunday, and became aware it was a cyber attack on Monday.
The breaches have affected parts of Go-Ahead’s back office systems, including the software that manages parts of its bus operations, such as driver rostering, meaning some disruption to services is possible.
Go-Ahead is one of the UK’s biggest bus operators, with networks across the UK including in London, the North East and South coast of England.
The company said its rail business, which includes the popular Govia Thameslink Railway routes, has not been caught up in the attack.
