Well, this is something you don’t see every day. Toyota has introduced a 14-seater MPV in India in the form of Hiace. The Hiace is a utilitarian vehicle, with this model being sold internationally for almost 2 decades. That is the reason the international markets saw the launch of the latest-generation Hiace in 2019. The one we are getting is the last-generation model and will be a full import. These kinds of tourers and MPVs are not too popular for personal use in India. That is the reason Toyota is bringing an initial lot of 50 units to our shores to test our market response. There is currently no demand for such a product, but with this option available to the buyers, will they opt for this or not remains to be seen. If the response is overwhelming, then Toyota could think of bringing the latest model of the Hiace to India. Until then, however, we will have to contend with this variant.
