5 Pointers on proposed Delhi-Dehradun expressway, read all you need to know

Work on the proposed 210 kilometres long Delhi-Dehradun expressway will begin by March this year. The Ministry of Road Transport And Highways plans to award contracts for construction of this expressway. The government plans to complete the project in the next two years.

Once completed, the Delhi-Saharanpur-Dehradun corridor will reduce the distance between the two cities from 235 kilometres at present to 210 kilometres. The proposed expressway will curtail the travel time between the two major cities by 4 hours.

Also, the Delhi-Dehradun expressway will act as a catalyst for the economic development of the region. Notably, the expressway has been designed for driving at a minimum speed of 100 kilometre per hour.

Issuing a statement, the Centre earlier in the day said the road will cut the travel distance between Delhi and the Uttarakhand capital by 25 kilometres.
