Bhubaneswar: A special vigilance Court on Wednesday granted three-day remand of tainted IFS officer Abhaykant Pathak and son Akash, who were arrested by the anti-corruption wing for allegedly amassing properties disproportionate to their know sources of income.
During the three-day remand period, the vigilance will interrogate them on the sources of their huge properties.
Earlier, the father-son duo was also remanded to nine-day vigilance custody after their bail application was rejected by the court. They were arrested on November 27 in the disproportionate assets case.
The anti-graft agency had raided Abhay Pathak’s residence and several other places in Odisha and outside and traced ill-gotten properties to the tune of 9.35 crore. This amount was about 435% of the total income from all his known sources, an official statement by the Vigilance said.
The vigilance is also investigating their income tax returns, investments in mutual funds and share markets.
