On Friday, actor, and producer Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani got a big relief in the case against Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Mirzapur’ web series. Allahabad High Court banned the arrest of both Farhan and Ritesh and has also issued a notice to the state government and complainant who filed an FIR against the makers of ‘Mirzapur’, seeking a reply.
For the uninformed, a petition was filed in the court, seeking cancellation of the FIR. The Court prohibited the arrest of Farhan and Ritesh after the hearing. The order was passed by the Division Bench of Justice MK Gupta and Justice Virendra Kumar.
For those who are unaware, an FIR was lodged in Uttar Pradesh against the makers of Mirzapur in Kotwali Dehat police station by Arvind Chaturvedi, a local journalist who has also written a book on the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
