Several celebrities and central government ministers on Wednesday tweeted using two hashtags coined by the Ministry of External Affairs in response to global criticism of the Centre’s handling of the farmers’ protests. The ministry had warned against the “temptation of sensationalist social media hashtags and comments”. The two hashtags are #IndiaAgainstPropaganda and #IndiaTogether.
Using the hashtags, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said propaganda cannot affect India’s unity or stop the country from attaining new heights.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted, “Before rushing to comment on such matters, we would urge that the facts be ascertained, and a proper understanding of the issues at hand be undertaken.”
