Centre asks states to tighten security for tomorrow’s strike, maintain peace

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday issued an advisory to the states and Union Territories to tighten security during the Bharat Bandh called by protesting farmers on Tuesday. The government also urged the states to ensure that coronavirus-related guidelines are strictly followed.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad castigated the Opposition parties for protesting against the agricultural laws, reminding them that allowing private players into the sector was their demand once.

Earlier in the day, the Uttar Pradesh Police detained Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav during a protest against the farm laws in Lucknow. The police deployed its personnel outside his residence to stop him for participating in a demonstration in Kannauj.
