Centre to monetise state assets worth Rs 6 lakh crore over next 4 years

The government on Monday launched the National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) that includes the Centre’s four-year plan to monetise its brownfield infrastructure assets. The NMP targets to raise Rs 6 lakh crore through asset monetisation of Central government, over a four-year period, from FY22 to FY25.

Only under-utilised brownfield assets will be monetised under the National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) of the Centre, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Monday. These under-utilised brownfield assets are in sectors such as roads, railways, airports, mines, and power. The ownership of the assets will be retained by the Centre.

Besides, no land parcels will be taken up under the NMP, Sitharaman said after unveiling the asset monetisation pipeline of Central ministries and public sector entities.
