Delhi Gymkhana club’s governing council suspended, Centre to appoint an administrator

In a major development, the whole board/governing council of Delhi Gymkhana club was suspended on Monday. An administrator will now be appointed by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).

The development comes a day after the club sent a notice to the members to clear the dues worth Rs 1.2 crore.

“The total amount of bills outstanding as of date is Rs 1,20,00,000, which includes monthly bills for Jan 21/ defaulter dues, and dues from members whose names have been recommended for termination,” the 107-year-old colonial-era club said in a notice on Sunday.

The notice added that to avoid an embarrassment of refusal by the club staff to honour their order, members are requested to kindly monitor and ensure their expenses do not exceed Rs 30,000 anytime.
