Delhi reports 306 new cases, lowest since May

Delhi on Monday registered 306 new coronavirus cases, taking its overall count to 6,30,506. The daily rise in cases was the lowest since May 11.

The Serum Institute of India signed an agreement with the Centre for 11 million (1.1 crore) doses of its coronavirus vaccine. It will be priced at Rs 200 per dose.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India’s coronavirus vaccines are more cost-effective than “any other” inoculation in the world. He held a meeting with the chief ministers of all the states to discuss vaccine rollout.

India on Monday registered 16,311 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall count to 1,04,66,595. The toll rose by 161 to 1,51,160, the lowest in seven-and-half-months. The active cases remained below 3 lakh at 2,22,526 for the 21st consecutive day, while the number of recoveries reached 1,00,92,909. Meanwhile, the number of cases with the mutant strain of the virus rose to 96 on Monday.
