Jeypore: In a tragic incident, one person was killed after a car plunged into upper Kolab canal near Jeypore High School on Sunday.
As per reports, three persons were travelling in the car when it skidded off the road and plunged into the canal. Police officials said that two persons were rescued while the driver of the car died due to drowning.
The incident occurred in the evening when the high-speed car slipped into the canal. A massive rescue operation was launched soon after by a team of police and fire services personnel.
Jeypore SDPO, Arup Abhisekh Behera said that two persons were rescued and have been admitted to the nearest hospital.
“The exact reason behind the incident is still unclear. The identity of the deceased driver and other occupants is yet to be ascertained,” said Behera.
