Chennai, Feb 12: After at least 11 persons were killed and around 36 were injured in a fire at a firecracker factory in Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar district, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed his “heartfelt condolences to the victims”.
He added, “Heart wrenching to think of those still trapped inside. I appeal to the state government to provide immediate rescue, support and relief.”

The incident took place while the staff of the Virudhunagar- based private firecracker factory was mixing some chemicals to produce fireworks.
The injured have been admitted to the Sivakasi government hospital.
