IndiaMART CEO, two others booked for selling Govardhan rocks online

The Mathura police have registered an FIR against the CEO of e-commerce site IndiaMART, and two others for allegedly selling Govardhan rocks on their website.

SP (Rural) Shirish Chandra told reporters that the FIR has been filed under Section 295 (destruction, damage, or defiling any place of worship held sacred by any class of persons with the intention of thereby insulting the relegion of any class of persons) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 66D of the Information Technology Act against IndiaMART founder-CEO Dinesh Agarwal, his brother and co-founder Brajesh Agrawal, and Mathura-based supplier Ankur Agrawal.

The case was registered based on a complaint by Mathura-based social worker Keshav Mukhia at Govardhan police station on February 7.

A large number of residents had demonstrated in front of Govardhan police station and demanded the arrest of officials of the web portal for hurting their sentiments.
