India’s coronavirus tally reached 59,92,532 on Saturday, after the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported a rise of 88,600 cases in the last 24 hours. The toll rose by 1,124 to 94,503.
India now has 9,56,402 active cases. The country’s mortality rate is 1.61%, while the recovery rate is at 82.1%.
Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu have reported the most new cases in the last 24 hours, and together account for around 55% of the country’s new infections on Sunday. The five states have more than 49,000 new cases altogether. Four of these states – all but Kerala – also reported the most deaths, led by Maharashtra with 430.
