According to reports in the media, Ben Stokes is likely to be available for the Rajasthan Royals from the first week of October. Initially, there was speculation that Stokes might miss IPL 2020 to be with his ailing father in New Zealand. Ben Stokes’ father Ged, a former All Blacks rugby player, is suffering from brain cancer and is undergoing treatment in New Zealand.
Stokes left the series against Pakistan after he was granted compassionate leave by the England and Wales Cricket Board. Stokes left for New Zealand in the middle of August and since then, he is been taking care of his father as well as trying to get some cricket practice.
