Bhubaneswar: A major fire broke out at a scrap godown in NandanVihar area of the Capital City on Friday.
According to reports, the blaze erupted into the wee hours in the godown located near Subhadra Apartment along the Patia-Nandankanan road. All the stored scrape materials including polythene and old rubber tyres have been gutted in the massive fire.
An alert resident noticed the flames and informed the fire services personnel who rushed to the spot immediately. It took them nearly two hours to bring the flames under control.
However, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Earlier before a month, a major fire had broken out in a fruit market in Bolangir. A person had sustained severe burn injuries while property worth over Rs 5 lakh was reduced to ashes in the mishap.
