Poet Kumar Vishwas Criticized for Remarks on Sonakshi Sinha’s Marriage

Kumar Vishwas, a renowned poet and former AAP leader, has sparked controversy with his recent comments on the interfaith marriage of film actor Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal. The couple tied the knot in June 23, 2024, in a civil ceremony under the Special Marriage Act. But his poetic remark added fuel to the on-going controversy after the marriage took place.

Vishwas was once known for his romantic and social commentary on harmony and solidarity. But his poetic satire has sparked controversy among people. During a speech at the Meerut Mahotsav on 21st December 2024, Vishwas made the controversial remark, “Teach your children the names of the sisters of Sita and brothers of Ram. Make them listen to The Ramayana, and teach them Geeta. Otherwise it should not happen that the name of your house may be Ramayana but someone else may take away the Shri Lakshmi of your house”
