Phulbani: Tension flared up near Charichhak in Daringbadi where locals blocked the National Highway-59 over alleged assault of a youth by a home guard of Daringbadi Police Station.
As per reports, Prakash Pradhan of Burjubadi village was allegedly assaulted by a home guard, Ratnakar Nayak six days ago on September 22, leaving the former critically injured.
Even after a complaint in this regard was lodged on the same day, the police could only apprehend the accused home guard after six days following widespread protests, informed sources.
However, the protests continue as locals blocked the highway demanding arrest of the accused and details of charges framed against him. Moreover, the agitating locals have demanded assistance and compensation for Prakash.
