The end of Day 2 saw India still hold India still very much in a strong position as England lose three wickets and score 119 at Lord’s in London on Thursday. The visitors still have 245 runs in the bank and will look to get quick wickets on Day 3. The hosts, however, did fight back in a bid to regain some lost ground.
England’s opening batsmen Rory Burns and Dom Sibley had held the fort and assured their team went into the tea without losing a single wicket. At Tea, England’s score read 23/0 after 14 overs with Rory Burns(11*) and Dom Sibley(11*) unbeaten on the crease.
However, the first over after tea saw Mohammed Siraj take two successive wickets. He sent Sibley and comeback man Haseeb Hameed back to the pavilion.
Mohammed Shami too joined the wicket-taking squad and sent Rory Burns for 49. The batsman went in for the review, but it did not go in his favour. Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow are the two batsmen at the crease at the end of the day’s play.
That’s…
