Trump reaffirms commitment to data security, says decision on TikTok soon

U.S. President Donald Trump said that security from China is of utmost importance.

U.S. President Donald Trump has asserted that data security of Americans is of the highest importance to him and a decision on the future of Chinese video sharing application TikTok will be taken soon.

Last month, Mr. Trump had signed an executive order to ban TikTok and WeChat by September 15 unless the ownership of the two Chinese companies changed to American.

Beginning September 20, the U.S. will ban any provision of service to distribute or maintain WeChat or TikTok mobile applications, citing them as prejudicial to sovereignty, integrity and security of the country.
