Washington, Feb 23: The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed the lives of 5 lakh people in the United States even as the country races to vaccinate its most vulnerable residents.
More people have died in the United States due to the virus, more than any other country in the world.
The US recorded an estimated 405,000 deaths in World War II, 58,000 in the Vietnam War and 36,000 in the Korean War.
