Will consider revoking suspension of MPs after they apologise, says RS Prasad

Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday said that the government will consider revoking suspension of the eight MPs only after they apologise for their “unruly behaviour”.

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said earlier in the day that the Opposition will boycott the Rajya Sabha session till the government revokes their suspension.

Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh met the legislators in the morning, who were suspended for their “unruly behaviour”, as they continued their overnight protest outside Parliament against the farming bills. Later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted in support of Singh.

Eighteen Opposition parties wrote to President Ram Nath Kovind, calling the passage of the bills “absolute and total murder of democracy”. They also urged him not to sign the farm bills. The Congress announced the party will launch a nationwide agitation…
