It is estimated by the University that a whopping 54 per cent of the entire Calcutta University’s research output can be freely archived in their repository.
The University of Calcutta has recently set up a pioneering Institutional Repository/Open Access platform with the primary goal to archive and make pay walled research papers accessible to researchers.
Since 2010, there is a buzz around increasing the accessibility of research articles, in response to which the university witnesses massive growth in open access publications. Furthermore, the university features a sheer volume of its published works including 51,241 publications comprising 35,823 articles, 10,296 chapters, 1,884 proceedings, 1,428 edited books, 1,301 monographs and 509 pre-prints.
