Feeling the beads of water rolling down the sides of your face? That’s the excessive scalp sweat from your scalp. And given the arrival of summer, the issue is not uncommon—but it might not be the only reason for this happening to you. Excessive head sweat is only further aggravated by styling products like pomades, waxes, and gels. The tacky formulas tend to make things worse by trapping heat and moisture, which then hinder airflow through the scalp.
High humidity levels impede sweat evaporation which only amplifies the feeling of sweating. Dr Deepak Jakhar, consultant dermatologist at the Dermosphere Clinic explains, “As temperatures rise, the body’s natural response is to produce more sweat to cool itself down, and the scalp, often exposed to direct sunlight and covered by hair, is no exception.’’
