The Government of Kerala appoints Dr M Satish Kumar, Scholar, Queen’s University Belfast, to helm the state’s Urban Policy Commission
Queen’s University Belfast has appointed Dr M Satish Kumar, an Associate Professor at the School of Natural and Built Environment, Geography, Archaeology & Palaeoecology, as the Chairperson of the Kerala Urban Policy Commission in India. The appointment is made by the Government of Kerala, in recognition of Kumar’s global expertise in urban development. Dr M Satish Kumar’s appointment is part of the Russell Group of UK research-intensive universities.
Kerala’s rapid urbanisation further amplifies various challenges, with over 92 per cent of the population predicted to reside in urban areas by 2036.
