Did you know that Oxygen, is the third most abundant element in the universe? Which means you’ll find oxygen in just about any corner of the universe in many different forms!
All our kids know about oxygen is that it’s a respiratory gas. The fact that the atmosphere has about 20% of Oxygen in the air and that it aids respiration is all we learn about it. But this common gas is responsible for so many cool phenomena, our little einsteins should know all about this curious little life-giving gas called oxygen.
For example, did you know that too much oxygen causes tiny bubbles in the blood which can be painful and sometimes deadly? This condition is called the bends which is a particular problem for astronauts and scuba divers. Fascinating, isn’t it?
