“Now the CBI wont’ have the general permission to carry out investigation in any case in the state, and they would require a permission from the state government for the same,” Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren tweeted.
The power, given under the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act 1946 to the CBI to carry out an investigation seamlessly, was earlier revoked by West Bengal, Mizoram, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and most recently, Maharashtra and Kerala. In Andhra Pradesh, former CM Chandrababu Naidu withdrew it in 2018 but it was reinstated by the new YSR Congress government under Jagan Mohan Reddy.
