New Delhi: Ahead of the visits by home minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda to West Bengal to roll out the party’s ‘parivartan yatra’ aimed at creating a momentum against the TMC, the state government has “neither approved nor denied permission” to the event, but has asked the party to seek permission from the local authorities for these programmes.
The BJP plans to take out five separate yatras in each zone of West Bengal during February and March, which are aimed to cover all the 294 assembly constituencies in a month. While Nadda and Shah will roll out three of these yatras, other BJP leaders could visit the state to launch the others.
The party unit has been keen on leaders like UP CM Yogi Adityanath to come and build momentum for the party in the state. The party’s national secretary, who is also handling the state, Arvind Menon, responsible for many of BJP’s rath yatras, is in charge of the programme.
