A breakout star last BBL season, the legspinner was the Melbourne Renegades’ highest wicket-taker

Peter Hatzoglou, who starred for the Melbourne Renegades in the 2020-21 Big Bash League (BBL) season, has signed a two-year contract with the Perth Scorchers.
The tall legspinner was the Renegades’ highest-wicket taker with 17 scalps from 12 innings and was the tenth highest overall in the competition’s last edition. After being signed as a replacement player a week before the tournament began, Hatzoglou provided a silver lining for the Renegades in an otherwise disappointing season, in which they finished last on the points table.
The Scorchers’ head coach Adam Voges said that he expected that when Hatzoglou teams up with left-arm spinner Ashton Agar, they would be a “strong spin duo”.
