NEW DELHI: As India wrapped up a ten-wicket victory over England inside two days, there was cause for celebration as India went 2-1 up in the series and also climbed to the top of the World Test Championship points table.
India now just need to make sure that they don’t lose the 4th Test against England, as that will see Australia going through to the WTC final.
However, not everyone was happy with the overall way in which the Test match finished inside two days.
This match has in fact tied the record for the shortest Test ever played in terms of days. In terms of balls bowled (842), it in fact became the shortest completed Test played since World War II and the seventh shortest overall.
The focal point of the criticism was of course the pitch at the new Motera stadium. It assisted spin so much that 28 of the 30 wickets that fell went to spinners, with Axar Patel, playing just his second Test match walking away with the Man of the match award with 11 wickets.
