NEW DELHI: Taking cognisance of the TOI report published on January 24 highlighting the grave flouting of social distancing norms at the Senior National Wrestling Championships currently underway in Noida, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) on Sunday strictly instructed the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as laid out by SAI for organising competitions amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
SAI, in a media statement, informed that it has taken cognisance of reports stating social distancing norms were allegedly flouted at the wrestling nationals at the Noida Stadium on January 23.
Speaking about the issue, Sandip Pradhan, Director General, SAI, said, “We have taken up the matter with the Wrestling Federation of India and impressed upon them that the SOP for competitions has to be adhered to strictly.”
