Buying Bad Hardware
One of the easiest mistakes that so many people make when building their own PC is buying hardware that is not compatible. It may be that your CPU is not at all compatible with the motherboard you have or that your motherboard doesn’t support the storage you have chosen. On top of this, you need to think about the CPU cooler you have. If it’s too big, then it won’t fit, or it won’t work properly. Power consumption is a huge thing when you are building your own gaming PC, so try and make sure that you keep this in mind if at all possible. If you don’t intend to use your computer for intensive gaming or if you just plan on playing casino games at NetBet then you probably won’t need to invest in a super powerful cooling unit, but you do want to make sure that you connect a nice display so that you can really capture those vivid gaming colours.
Installing the CPU Wrong
So many people make this mistake. If you are building your PC, then you need to make sure that you install your PC at the right orientation. It’s very easy for you to know the direction that you need to install your CPU. A lot of processors will come with markings on the corners. With an AMD chip, it’s a gold arrow that is in the left corner. You have to make sure that you line this up with the motherboard CPU if possible. Sometimes the indicator will be on the board itself, but either way, looking out for this is super important because if you don’t then you may find that your entire system malfunctions.
Forgetting the Power
Another very common mistake is forgetting about the CPU power connection. 50% of new PC builders happen to run into this issue. If you have made this mistake, then you certainly shouldn’t feel bad about it. Your power connection for the CPU is in the upper left-hand corner of your motherboard. If you do not connect the power connection, then your power won’t function at all and your entire system will not work. You will usually connect this up with an 8-pin connection from the PSU. Normally this will be marked with cpu_pwr.
Not Plugging in the Cooler
It’s very easy for you to forget about plugging in the cooler. If you forget about this then your system may overheat and malfunction, so take the time to make sure that it’s all hooked up well.
