The latest Galaxy S21 series smartphone does not come with Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) chip.
The chip allowed Samsung Pay users to make the payment using their credit or debit cards on practically any payment machine even if they do not support NFC.
The feature was one of the biggest strengths of Samsung Pay and it was well adopted.
Samsung believes that the NFC adoption has reached a stage where they can phase out the old Magnetic technology and work on improving the NFC-based payment system.
The company has confirmed the same to tech website androidpolice.com that all the smartphones from Galaxy S21 onwards won’t come with a MST chip.
While the latest and upcoming Galaxy devices will not come with MST chip, previous Galaxy users with compatible devices can still use the MST feature on Samsung Pay.
