On Tuesday, the 26-year-old actor Adarsh Gourav was announced as one of the nominees in the leading actor’s British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) nominees list alongside names like Riz Ahmed (‘Sound Of Metal’), late Chadwick Boseman (‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’), Mads Mikkelsen (‘Another Round’), Anthony Hopkins (‘The Father’) and Tahar Rahim (‘The Mauritanian’).
The actor was nominated for his terrific performance in the Netflix film ‘The White Tiger’Based, based on Aravind Adiga’s Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name. Gourav chronicled the extraordinary journey of how a driver named Balram escapes poverty to rise to the top while actors Rajkummar Rao and Priyanka Chopra Jonas played the characters of a rich married couple and Gourav’s employers in the film, Ashok and Pinky.
The film is directed by Ramin Bahrani.
Besides the lead actor category, the film is also nominated under ‘Ádapted Screenplay’.
