Ever heard of a 2 mile shoe? Well, a homegrown Indian sneaker brand, Flatheads, just coined the term and we’re loving it.
When the pandemic struck in 2020, forcing the world indoors, the folks at Flatheads went straight to the drawing board to whip up a creation that would find meaning in a newly changing world. And thus, Troos was born.
Troos, which means comfort in Afrikaans, is Flatheads’ very first mule made from bamboo yarn. A game-changing slip-on designed to be a “2 mile shoe”. But what really is a 2-mile shoe? We had the same question. According to Flatheads, it’s what you’d pick when you have to make a quick run to the grocery store or when your dog is ready for a walk. It’s what you’d slip into when lounging at home, or taking your car out for a spontaneous short drive. It’s your everyday shoe that fits as comfortably into your newly adopted “stay-at-home” routine as it does on your feet.
Flatheads established itself as a pioneer in premium bamboo sneakers post the launch of Aurea, a limited edition range that sold like hot cakes. Now, the brand continues to make its way in the natural fibres market with Troos, which is also designed with bamboo fibre uppers to suit the Indian tropical climate. And much like the rest of Flatheads’ collection, Troos too, is designed to be lightweight, breathable and sweat absorbing. Designed to embrace a minimalist aesthetic, this latest collection comes in three colours that are named after the gemstones that they resemble: Moon (Grey), Jasper (Brown) and Onyx (Black).
“We wanted to design a shoe that gives your feet an organic and cool feel, allowing you to slip it on and off very quickly. Troos is a mule that is convenient for a short grocery run but also stylish enough for you to sport when you are hanging out with friends at a café or lounge” , says Utkarsh Biradar, CEO of Flatheads.
In fact, the shoe is already garnering a lot of attention with about half the stock being sold out in 2 weeks in just the pre-order phase. Seems like this 2-mile shoe sure has got a lot of us curious and we can’t wait to try one ourselves!
