Bungee jumper’s mid-air heart attack after jumping with no cord

A bungee jumper who plummeted about 50m to her death is believed to have died of a heart attack mid-air after realising she wasn’t attached to the bungee cord.

Colombian lawyer Yecenia Morales Gómez, 25, tragically died when she followed the wrong signal to jump before she even hit the ground.

Now a medical report suggests the woman’s cause of death was not the fall.

According to the report seen by Colombian news outlet Noticias Caracol, the young woman suffered a heart attack during her fall and was dead before she hit the ground.

The tragedy happened during Ms Gomez’s first bungee jump with her boyfriend in the province of Antioquia, Colombia.

According to footage taken by onlookers, the bungee instructor yelled to Ms Gomez’s boyfriend to “jump now” but Ms Gomez appears to have thought the instruction was for her, and jumped without a cord.
