Dad and kids missing in New Zealand for six days

Thomas Phillips and his three children have been missing for more than five days following a trip to the beach over the weekend.

A desperate search has continued for a dad and his three kids who haven’t been seen for more than five days.

Thomas Phillips and his three children, Jayda Jin, 8, Maverick Callum-Phillips, 6, and Ember Phillips, 5, were last seen on Saturday afternoon near Kiritehere Beach in Marokopa, on the west coast of New Zealand’s North Island, just over three hours south of Auckland.

Crews have conducted extensive searches of surrounding beach and bush area, but have yet to come any closer to finding the missing family.

Mr Phillips’ grey Toyota Hilux was found on the beach on Sunday, sparking an intense search in the Kiritehere and Marokopa area onwards from Monday.

Mr Phillips was described a “fabulous dad” by his uncle Paul Phillips, who said he often took his kids with him on whitebaiting expeditions.
