Exemption for Naval Group CEO Pierre Eric Pommellet

A French chief executive has been granted an exemption from hotel quarantine and will spend his 14 days at a suburban address in Adelaide.

Pierre Eric Pommellet is the global boss of Naval Group, contracted to produce 12 new Attack Class submarines in South Australia for the nation’s future fleet – an $89.7 billion project.

He is expected to meet with Defence Minister Linda Reynolds during his visit to Australia.

SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens told news.com.au in a statement that SA Health’s exemptions committee approved Mr Pommellet’s application to quarantine in a separate location “on the basis of security grounds”.

Mr Stevens said the application was subject to his team’s assessment “in relation to being able to provide a secure environment” and was based on “the placement of dedicated resources there” so it could be safely managed.
