I saw a story this week about Amazfit’s new earbuds, which will play a notification sound if the sensors think you’re slouching, or if you haven’t moved enough. Personally I hate paying money to be nagged – as a lot of modern tech likes to do – but each to their own.
This is the crux of my difficult relationship with wearables. I’m reluctantly Extremely Online and I don’t want new, niche, ways to be connected to whatever drama is happening on Twitter. I don’t want notifications on my wrist and my experience of advanced features, like blood oxygen monitoring, is one of questionable accuracy.
I’m no fan of PowerPoint controls on my wrist, nor do I need to record memos through my watch like Captain Kirk – although my I would consider using it to save the occasional Shatner impression.
What I do want is the longest lasting battery life possible, music and smartphone…
