Shock horror: a global pandemic that forced people to stay indoors resulted in more people playing video games indoors. According to brand-new data from Twitter, it also led to a ridiculous explosion in growth for the social media giant’s gaming community.
For the first time ever, there were over two billion gaming-related tweets throughout the year. This is far from insignificant growth when compared to the previous 12 months–this represented a 75% rise on 2019 figures, while there was a 49% increase in unique authors.
As part of its research, Twitter dug deep into its data and found the top ten most talked-about video games on its platform.
